Why do we use prepared pieces?

We want the education session to focus on sewing itself and learning the basics, so the felt pieces are prepared in advance.

This means children do not need to spend most of the session cutting out shapes. Instead, we can calmly learn how to thread a needle, tie a knot, begin a seam and try the first stitches.

Most importantly, every child gets to experience the moment when separate pieces gradually turn into a finished creation in their own hands.
